Madhu Munasinghe
Madhu is a clinical psychologist who has worked in New Zealand for over five years. With 12 years of experience in clinical psychology across the public and private sectors, Madhu has been practising privately since 2021. Her career began in Sri Lanka, where she worked in the public sector with the National Child Protection Authority before relocating to New Zealand in 2018.
Madhu holds a particular interest in depression, anxiety and trauma. She offers specialised assessments for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), intellectual disabilities, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and other neuropsychological conditions.
Madhu practices eclectic therapeutic approach, integrating techniques from cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and other therapy modalities based on each client’s unique needs and circumstances.
Beyond her focus on clinical psychology, Madhu is currently training to become a neuropsychologist and working only part-time. In her free time, she enjoys travelling, engaging in craft activities, and spending time with her family.
